Main duties and responsibilities:

  • To safeguard all children
  • To attend training
  • To complete all assignments set
  • To work cooperatively as part of a team
  • To attend associated training
  • To liaise with mentor
  • Attending college and completing assignments to a high standard and on time
  • To attend team meetings and imputing ideas
  • Under supervision, provide all aspects of care for children including changing and feeding
  • To assist with meeting the personal and emotional needs of individual children
  • To Provide adult interaction with children in the nursery
  • To be aware of and implement all the nursery’s policies and procedures
  • Support all staff and engage in a cooperative highly motivated and productive staff team
  • To attend out of working hours activities, e.g. training, staff meetings, parent’s evenings, fairs etc.
  • Contribute to high standards of hygiene and cleanliness in nursery

Wellingtons Nursery is based in a purpose-built setting attached to Wellington Hill Residents Association. Childcare provision has been at the heart of WHRA, serving the community for over 30 years. Our new nursery, which opened in September 2019 provides a safe and stimulating environment where children learn, play and grow. It offers working parents flexible provision up to 50 weeks of the year from 8am to 6pm.

Training to be Delivered

The training you will be getting (mode of delivery):

  • Once a month day release in college
  • Tutor visits in the workplace
  • Remote support via Teams

Course content:

The Level 2 Apprenticeship is delivered in partnership with the workplace you will be expected to attend college 1 day a month, where you will gain knowledge and understanding of the working within the early years sector. You will develop skills on the job where you will be supported by a workplace mentor. An Assessor from Leeds City College will visit you on a regular basis to support your learning journey.

Additional Requirement:  you would need at least either English or maths in the GCSE A-C/8-4 or equivalent. However, if you have English but do not have maths/or if you have maths but do not have English – you will need to achieve the one you don’t have during your apprenticeship at Leeds City College.

Functional Skills qualifications:

  • Level 1 Functional Skill in English
  • Level 1 Functional Skill in maths

End point assessment consists of:

  • Multiple choice Exam
  • Professional discussion underpinned by a portfolio of evidence
