“If you have any questions regarding entry criteria for any of our courses, feel free to call 0113 386 1997 and speak to one of our course enquiries team.”
The general requirements for entry to our A level programmes are five GCSEs including English and maths at grade 9-4 or equivalent, plus two additional GCSEs or BTECs at grade 9-4 or equivalent.
Please be aware that specific subjects may require grade 5 or above in GCSE English or Maths. Applicants with five GCSEs at Grade 9-4 including English and maths, but without the two additional 9-4 equivalent qualifications may be considered, dependent on individual circumstances, at the discretion of the deputy head or head of A levels.
Students with a GCSE average score of below 5.7 (mostly 4s at GCSE) will follow the three A level programme, whilst students with a GCSE average score of 5.7 (mostly 6 and above at GCSE) or above are encouraged to study four A level subjects. Our expert staff will help you to choose the most appropriate courses at enrolment.
To work out your GCSE average score, add up your total GCSE score from your individual grades and divide by the number of GCSEs taken (for the purpose of this calculation you should discount vocational equivalents such as BTECs).
In addition to our general entry criteria, some subjects have their own additional criteria. Please see the subject pages for details.
