Gerald Jennings

Gerald Jennings – Chair and Governor

Gerald is a Fellow of the RICS and has worked in the property sector for over 30 years and was a Portfolio Director with Land Securities heading up the company’s northern retail portfolio in the Leeds office before forming his own property company and consultancy in April 2015.

Gerald became Chairman of the West and North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce in September 2017, having joined the board of the West & North Yorkshire Chamber in 2014 and being President of the Leeds Chamber. He was instrumental in setting up the Leeds Business Improvement District and is actively involved in several social enterprises and charities. He is a longstanding advocate for community investment believing that business should play its role in bridging the economic divide that exists in our towns and cities.

Gerald is a Non-Executive on the Board of Henry Boot PLC and has a number of other non-executive roles including:

• Chair of Trustees at The Tetley

• Director at The Ahead Partnership

• Director at the West & North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce

Most recently, Gerald has taken on the role of Chairman of Social Communications Leeds, a business already established in Manchester and London, providing PR, public affairs and marketing expertise to the property sector.

 

Colin Booth

Colin Booth - Chief Executive & Principal

Prior to joining Leeds City College, Colin was Principal of Barnsley College for seven years where he steered the college to an Ofsted rating of outstanding.

He has worked in the further education sector for over 30 years; his background is as a teacher and manager in Skills for Life and provision for students with disabilities or learning difficulties. He has also worked as a part-time inspector for Ofsted and the Adult Learning Inspectorate.

Colin was awarded an OBE for services to further education in the Queen’s 2015 New Year Honours list.

 

Richard Shaw – Co-optee

Richard Shaw is an Operations Director for Mace Group who are leading international construction and consultancy company. Richard leads the consultancy business within Yorkshire and the North East supporting clients in the planning and delivery of property and construction projects across a range of sectors. He is a Chartered Civil Engineer and qualified Project Manager (PRINCE2 and APM) with a passion for developing others through mentoring, coaching and engagement across the wider skills agenda.

Richard is a member of the college Property Strategy Committee, bringing a wealth of experience and expertise in the strategic planning of real estate portfolios and in the planning, management and delivery of construction projects. Richard is also a Trustee of the Hunslet Club in Leeds.

 

Robert Sladdin – Co-optee

Robert is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. Until retiring in 2010, he was Director of Estates at the University of Leeds where he spent the major part of his professional career. He now works as a consultant.

Robert is currently Chairman of Leeds Innovation Centre and a Director of Unipol Student Homes. He has previously served as Chairman of Leeds and Yorkshire Housing Association from 2011-14 and as a Governor of Leeds City College, Leeds College of Music and Leeds Trinity University.
