You may have noticed that our usual website is currently not in use, due to a wider IT issue, which is also impacting our access to emails. As a temporary solution we are using the email account of Leeds Conservatoire, one of our institutions whose email systems were not impacted by the incident, so that we can communicate with you.
We would like to share more information on what is happening to try to answer questions you may have.
What has happened?
On August 11th, some members of Luminate Education Group were targeted by a cyber attack, which caused some operational disruption with our networks and IT systems. We are working closely with the Education & Skills Funding Agency (ESFA), the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) and the Cyber Crime Unit from the National Crime Agency (NCA). The Information Commissioner’s Office has also been notified.
We also engaged a group of dedicated, external experts who immediately launched an investigation into the incident, which is ongoing. We take cyber security extremely seriously and it is for this reason that we had a robust system in place that identified the presence of the attacker and enabled us to respond quickly.
What does this mean for our suppliers?
Our IT experts are currently assessing the scope of the incident and working hard to rebuild our IT infrastructure. Unfortunately, due to the incident we do not currently have access to our finance system, which means that we are currently unable to issue purchase orders, process invoices or make BACS payments in the usual way.
Resolving this matter is of the utmost importance to us and we are currently identifying temporary solutions. We will endeavor to make alternative arrangements for payment where necessary, but we would like to ask that you please bear with us. Thank you to all our suppliers who have confirmed that they are able to supply goods and services in advance of the receipt of a Purchase Order and to those who are willing to extend payment terms whilst this matter is ongoing. We appreciate your understanding and continued support.
Finally, we just want to remind you that we will not be asking you to resend bank details or other financial information via email, unless this is accompanied by a phone call or other verification process.
