Apprenticeships: Information for employers

The Apprenticeship Business Engagement and Recruitment team at Leeds City College supports with the delivery of a wide range of apprenticeships, working closely with employers and candidates to match the right person to the right job.

We are able to tailor a recruitment process to your company’s needs. We support businesses with multiple aspects of apprenticeship recruitment, including: writing job descriptions, advertising your opportunities on national job boards, sifting applications based on your specifications, supporting you with the paperwork for funding and more.

Funding incentives

Receive up to £3,000:
If you hire an apprentice between 1 August 2020 and 31 January 2021, you can receive up to £3,000 as part of the government’s plan to support employers during the economic recovery.

Receive £2,000:
If you hire a new apprentice aged 16-24, you will receive an incentive payment of £2,000.

Receive £1,500:
If you hire an apprentice aged 25 or over, you will receive an incentive payment of £1,500.

If you hire an apprentice aged 16-18, or an apprentice aged 19-24 who has previously been in care or who has a Local Authority Education, Health and Care plan, you will receive an additional £1,000.

You will receive your payment directly into your bank account in two equal installments and there is no limit to the number of incentive payments you can receive.

Financial benefits of hiring an apprentice:

  • Access 95-100% funding for apprenticeship courses
  • Receive unlimited cash grants up to £3,000 per apprentice
  • No recruitment fees when recruiting an apprentice
